The following is a quick and easy way to find out how to book your Theory test and of course firstly get yourself a UK Provisional Driving Licence.

First Step: English Provisional Driving Licence
This is easy to get. You need to have been in the UK for at least 6 months. Get down to the Post Office and ask the lady for the application forms for the UK Provisional Driving Licence. No big deal. Then you will need a passport size photo. You will have to send off your Passport with the application form. It normally returns within 2 weeks. If you put URGENT on the envelope it may speed up the process. If you have a UK Passport or an EU Passport then you dont have to send it off but can register it at the nearest Post Office.

Second Step: Passing Your Theory Test
This is the easy bit. You will need 2 CD Roms from WH Smiths. Notting Hill or Swiss Cottage have branches. One CD covers the Highway Code - which is mainly common sense though you will need to know your traffic signs and the other covers the Hazard Perception test. This basically means clicking your mouse when you see a hazard. You can get a bit trigger happy on this so it pays to hold your fire. But of course you must still spot your hazards. The problem here for the experienced driver is that you see hazards everywhere. Good luck with this side of the test, you should be ok.

Third Step: Booking your Theory Test
There are many centres in London. 1.Croydon is just south of the river. 2.Southwark is near Tower Bridge, which is central London.. 3.If you want a quick one then you can try Watford. Watford is about 55 minutes by train and the Theory test centre is just accross the road. A quick way to book it is by phone. If you dont get the date you want ring a couple of hours later.

As soon as you pass your Theory Test get on the phone to me and I will set you up for a quick Driving Test. You can do it all in half a day or spread it over a couple of days or weeks. Pass rates are 90 to 95% first time with experienced or semi experienced drivers from all over the world. The national average in London for first time pass is approx 37%. If you read other sections of this website you will understand why. At the moment Angel Fastrak is putting together a small do it yourself driving test kit which includes a small manual with a DVD. Looking forward to hearing from you.
